Sheffield man who had gun, Class A drugs and sword at Batemoor home is jailed

A Sheffield man who kept a gun, Class A drugs, a sword and a machete at his home has been jailed for 10 years.

Ricky Dexter Senior, 34, of Whitethorns View, Batemoor, pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

He was sentenced to 10 years and seven months in prison at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday (April 14).

PC Steven Hemsley described him as a ‘dangerous drug dealer’ following the hearing.

Police raided Senior’s home on the morning of Monday, March 14. Officers found a black handgun, eight rounds of ammunition and a quantity of Class A drugs including heroin and crack cocaine, estimated to be worth between £3,00 and 4,000.

Senior also had a small amount of cannabis and one sapling cannabis plant in the house.

Four lock knives, a machete, a short sword and an oriental knife were also seized, along with £2,000 in cash.

Senior was arrested and subsequently charged the following day. On April 14 he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition without a certificate.

He was sentenced to a total of 10 years and seven months for the offences: five years and seven months for possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and five years for possession of a firearm, to run consecutively.

He was also sentenced to five years and seven months for possession with intent to supply heroin and three years for possession of ammunition, to run alongside the 10 years seven months sentence.

PC Hemsley said: “This man is a dangerous drug dealer who thought he could protect himself with a firearm.

“The recovery of this firearm has made the streets of Sheffield a safe place and I hope his sentence demonstrates our ongoing work and commitment to tackle drug and gun related crime across South Yorkshire.

“We will continue to pursue anyone who puts the public at risk by choosing this lifestyle and anyone implicated in this kind of criminality will be brought to justice.”
