Sheffield MP backs chance for war veterans to visit places they served

War veterans who would like to return to the places where they served during the Second World War can do so thanks to a funding boost.

Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn has been backing the Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Heroes Return 2’ project which is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings.

The scheme has been helping hundreds of Second World War veterans make commemorative visits to the places they served, and is now looking for more veterans to take part.

Grants are being offered to WWII veterans, with up to £8,140 available, and those who have had one trip can now apply for a second.

“I am delighted to be supporting this campaign,” said Ms Munn. “It gives veterans a fantastic opportunity to revisit the places they served.”
