Sheffield Park Academy, on Beaumont Road North, Manor Park, has been praised by schools minister Nick Gibb for its recent results in an official letter sent to the school.

More than 65 per cent of the school’s students have achieved five or more
GCSEs at grades A*-C,
including English and maths, in the last two years.

In the letter, Mr Gibb thanked headteacher Craig Dillon and his staff for their ‘hard work and
professionalism’.

The minister added: “Your school is one of the top 100 non-selective state-funded schools in England based on the Key Stage 2 to 4 value added measure.

“This reflects the fantastic progress made by your pupils since the end of primary school.”

Mr Dillon said he was delighted the school’s recent achievements had been formally recognised.

He said: “This is excellent news for all those associated with the school and I would like to personally thank everyone for their hard work, which places us in the top three per cent of state-funded schools nationally.

“Our aim now is to continue to build on this progress and provide our pupils with the very best standards of education in a school at the heart of its community.”

The academy is housed in a purpose-built £30 million building, which opened in 2008.

The school was given a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted in its last inspection, which took place in 2013.

It is run by United Learning, the same organisation in charge of Sheffield Springs Academy as well as a number of other primary and secondary schools across the country.
