The Senior Colts are unbeaten all season, have won the local league and are in the final of the Yorkshire Cup for the third year in a row.

To add to this story of success, this Sunday Sheffield play host to Tynedale RUFC in the semi-finals of the National Cup at Abbeydale in what promises to be a momentous game.

If Sheffield win they will proudly take their place in the final to be played at the Sixways Stadium – home of the Worcester Warriors.

The joy has been watching the development of these players over the years as they have come together to form a very fine side indeed. There have been several players who have been training with the Yorkshire Carnegie Academy side as well as representing Yorkshire at county level, but every member of this side has prodigious skill, toughness and intelligence.

The sadness is the fact that many will be going their separate ways as they move on to employment or further education.

For those that stay there is a tremendous opportunity for local senior sides to add terrific potential to their ranks – I hope they are taking note!
