Those taking part in Obstacle Sheffield will have to brave the cold weather along with a collection of 10 unique obstacles during a 5k run through Ecclesall Woods. The event will take place around Whirlow playing fields, off Limb Lane in Dore, on Sunday from 11am. It has been organised by Sheffield Hallam University students as part of a year of ‘innovative and creative’ events to raise money for Age UK Sheffield. It follows a similar duathlon event at Hillsborough Park on March 5 and other events include a unique challenge to get as far away from Sheffield as possible in 12 hours without spending any money. Jane Tattersall, senior lecturer and course leader for events management at the university, said: "We chose Age UK Sheffield because of the incredible, and often hidden, work they do for residents and families in Sheffield."Over the last five years, our students have helped to raise an incredible £125, 000 for local charities."We hope this year's events will be bigger and better than ever and raise life-changing funds for Age UK Sheffield, as well as giving the students valuable practical experience to take forward into their careers."Steve Chu, chief executive of Age UK Sheffield, said: "We’re thrilled the students at Sheffield Hallam University have chosen us as their charity. It’s a jam-packed calendar of really exciting events which we have no doubt will us help raise much needed funds for and awareness of our charity.”
