Sheffield’s former European bronze medallist to take part in Race For Life

Former European bronze medallist Becky Lyne will be taking part in this year’s Race For Life event at Meadowhall.

The 32-year-old, from Broomhall, won a bronze medal in the 800 metres race at the European Championships in 2006, along with the accolade of Britain’s Female Athlete of the Year 2006.

She is encouraging women to sign up to the 5km event on Sunday.

Becky said: “As for my story, races like this have taught me to love running again after the disillusionment of a promising athletics career that fell foul to injury.

“I’ll be running with my beloved Grandma in my heart and mind. I’m proud to be a part of this year’s Meadowhall Race for Life and I am looking forward to meeting people on the day and hearing their inspiring stories.”
