Sheffield’s Tramlines festival lays charity plans

Sheffield’s Tramlines festival plans to set up its own charity to protect the future of its community activities.

The festival runs an annual programme of free events with support from the city council and sponsors.

This year world music acts including Papa Al, Gordon Masiala and Jungle Lion will perform in the Peace Gardens next Saturday, July 25, while on the Sunday young musicians and dancers are getting the opportunity to take to the stage.

Traders will serve up street food in the gardens, including Smoke Barbecue, who are hosting a bucking bronco ride for visitors.

Street theatre artists are performing in Barker’s Pool, supported by the National Fairground Archive, while fun rides, a stage and a bar will be set up on Fargate.
