Sheffield school raises thousands of pounds to help in Nepal

Pupils, parents and friends of Birkdale School raised £10,000 over four days to help with the rescue effort in Nepal.

The cash raised has bought 1,600 kilos of beaten rice, which has been sent by truck to remote areas where there is no food or water following last week’s earthquake, which has left thousands dead and others displaced and without supplies.

A school spokeswoman said: “Financial donations are still coming in and this work will continue. Birkdale is proud of the fact that every penny raised is going directly to the people of Nepal.”
