Sheffield schoolboy riding toy scooter seriously injured after being hit by car

A schoolboy riding a toy scooter was left seriously injured after he was hit by a car on a Sheffield street.Â

The 10-year-old child sustained a serious head injury after he was in collision with a white Vauxhall Corsa in Masters Road, Parson Cross, yesterday at 4.05pm.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said he was riding a toy scooter on the pavement and was hit by the vehicle when he crossed the road.

The car was travelling in the direction of Longley Park and the collision happened close to the junction with Masters Crescent.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains today in what police described as a 'serious but stable condition.'

A 22-year-old woman driving the Corsa was not injured.
