A Sheffield schoolgirl who beat the bullies is hoping to become a teen beauty queen.
Heidi Johnson, from Halfway, is through to the final for Miss Junior Teen Great Britain after being awarded the title of Miss Junior Teen Sheffield.
The Eckington School pupil got into the pageant world after seeing an article in The Star appealing for contestants for Miss South Yorkshire.
But aged just 15 she was too young to enter the competition and was instead pointed in the direction of the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain contest.
Mum Leanne Reynolds said Heidi’s confidence has been transformed since she got involved.
The 37-year-old said: “Heidi had such low confidence and she got bullied at a previous school.
“I moved her school and she has now got a nice group of friends.
“I have seen a big difference in her since she started in the competition. There are so many girls from it contacting her and giving her pointers.
“She has made a lot of friends through it and she seems to have grown up a lot as well. It has really boosted her confidence.
“She is very excited to be a finalist.”
Heidi is now preparing for the grand final at The Globe in Blackpool on October 25, where contestants will take part in evening wear, fashion and interview rounds.
But if she does not secure the £300 sponsorship in the next two weeks then she will not be able to take part.
Leanne has now set up a Go Fund Me fundraising page to try and make Heidi’s beauty pageant dreams come true.
She said: “Heidi has worked tirelessly contacting companies to try to get the sponsorship, but hasn’t managed it.
“We have already been offered £50 towards from The Hair and Nail Boutique, but need to raise £300 in the next two weeks.
“I’ve set up a Go Fund Me page to ask family and friends for sponsorship.
“If we don’t raise it then she won’t be able to take part.
“There will be advertising and marketing opportunities for any business that sponsor Heidi.”
