Sheffield speedway: Arthur Sissis looking for repeat home glory

Sheffield racer Arthur Sissis is looking to repeat last week's Owlerton heroics as they host Edinburgh tomorrow (7.30).

The Aussie reserve came up trumps in the closing stages to help Tigers snatch a win over top of the table Somerset.

It was an encouraging showing for Sissis, who has endured a tough run since returning from a serious shoulder injury back in May. Although he was unable to enjoy such success on the road at Somerset and Newcastle over the weekend, he is hoping to help his side claim another home win to revive play-off ambitions.

Said Sissis: “To beat Somerset, who are top of the league and hadn’t lost a meeting, gave everyone a lot of confidence. I struggled at the start of the meeting last week, I changed my engine and couldn’t get out of the start. I finally made some starts in the last two and things worked out well, so I was happy with that.

“I’ve had a few good meetings and a few bad ones but I’m getting a bit more comfortable on the bike, especially at home.Sometimes I try hard on the bike and nothing happens, other times I’m barely trying and I get more points so it’s a tough game.”

Sissis added: “It was good to end on a high and help us get the win, because it was a tight meeting and we really needed it after some bad results.

“The last few meetings a few of us having been doing OK but a few have struggled, so there is a bit of inconsistency in the team.

“Last week against Somerset I think everyone played their part, so hopefully we can continue that and just start winning our home matches again because that’s important.

Edinburgh will be another tough one, but we need to try and get another win because we want to make the play-offs.”
