The Scots were 5-0 when they started to find the net - and after they got two in two minutes, Sheffield shut up the shop.

The 7, 472 went home happy to see their side two points ahead of second-placed Cardiff, who have a game in hand.

Belfast Giants' hopes of finishing top were dealt a blow as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Braehead Clan.

Brendan Brooks and Alex Leavitt grabbed the goals which saw third-placed Giants' six-game winning run come crashing to a halt, with Chris Higgins' third-period goal merely consolation for Belfast.
