Sheffield teenager Lauren Taylor has had a week to remember - after landing a place at a prestigious Oxford University summer school.
The 17-year-old from Mellor Lea Farm Drive in Ecclesfield enjoyed a programme of classes and activities dedicated to the history of art.
And when she returned she learned she’d achieved three grade As in the first year of her A-levels at Barnsley College.
Lauren, who is studying English language and literature, art and ICT, was one of only 11 students accepted onto the Oxford course.
She stayed in halls of residence, met current students and completed research in the university’s Bodleian Library on a particular painting.
The week culminated with each student giving a presentation to the class on the painting they had studied.
Lauren said: “I really enjoyed the summer school - it was a bit scary at first as the university is so huge but everyone was lovely and Oxford is so pretty.
“I usually focus on the practical side of art so it was a really good opportunity to look at the history side and visit museums and galleries. I’m definitely planning on applying to Oxford next year.”
