TEACHER Starr Green teaches French and Spanish to children all over the world - without ever leaving the UK.

The 32-year-old from Hillsborough uploads her lesson plans, work sheets and presentations to a website, TES Resources.

Over the past six years Starr has contributed more than 700 of her lessons to the online library.

And they have been downloaded over 500,000 times in nearly 150 different countries - as far away as Bangui in the Central African Republic.

Starr’s most popular lessons are based on the phonics learning system, as used to help teach children to read.

“The idea is to teach children to pronounce unknown words in foreign languages in the same way as we teach children to read,” she said.

The Sheffield University graduate, whose day job is at a school in Leeds, discovered teaching was ideal for her after taking a job as an English language assistant in French-speaking Quebec.

“The TES website is a fantastic way for teachers to share their knowledge,” she said.
