Sheffield United: Flynn out to improve goal tally

The Scottish winger, playing centrally in Nigel Adkins’ new United system, won a late penalty - converted by Che Adams - as the visitors came from 2-1 behind to snatch a point.

The result moved them up to 11th in League One - six points behind Barnsley in the final play-off position - and Flynn said: “That was one that got away, to be honest. We dominated the first half but then conceded two very disappointing goals. We should have done better with some of the chances we had and, in the context of our season and our run of form, it was a disappointing point.

“Sometimes when you’re flying high and come away from a tough place with a point, then you think it’s not so bad, but we’re not in that position right now. We need wins.

“I don’t think we’re far off... one or two wins in a row, and it’ll come. But we’re running out of time, we know that.”

Flynn, converted into an attacking midfielder in Adkins’ system which utilises three centre-backs, added: “I’ll play anywhere for this club. I’ve had a few different roles since I arrived, but I enjoy getting forward and I won a penalty. Ideally, I’d like to add a few more goals to my game, though, but it’s about the team. And if we pick up three points and I go home without a goal, that’s good enough for me.”
