The Sheffield United midfielder, on loan from Middlesbrough, has failed to make a senior appearance for nearly 15 weeks after damaging an ankle during training in December.

But Chris Wilder, speaking ahead of the visit to Wiltshire, said: “Harry is looking really good. He’s possibly come back in even better shape than when he first came. He’s clearly worked really hard.

“Young players sometimes get things chucked at them, that they get things too easy and stuff like that. Especially when they are England players. But he’s not like that, we’ve been really impressed with him.”

Chapman returned to the North-East after being diagnosed with a membrane problem shortly before December’s FA Cup tie with Bolton Wanderers and, with doctors initially unable to confirm how long it would take to heal, feared his association with United had come to an end. But with Middlesbrough and the League One leaders brokering an agreement with protected the latter’s financial interests, the teenager rejoined Wilder’s squad after completing his rehabilitation on Teesside.

“Harry has shown the right attitude,” the United manager said. “He’s in the squad and there’s a very good chance that he could be involved down there (at Swindon). It’s good to have him back, especially when you see the desire he’s obviously shown to make it happen as quickly as possible. That’s great to see, it really is.”
