Wasteland in Sheffield is set to be transformed into a new community garden thanks to two housing firms.

Residents of Arbourthorne will be able to plant and nurture the garden thanks to a project by Sanctuary Group and Keepmoat.

The area, located between Springs Academy and Spires Community Centre, will be used by the centre for the community.

Meg Munn, Labour MP for Sheffield Heeley, said: “This project will transform a piece of wasteland into a valuable community resource which will benefit so many local residents. I can’t wait to come back to see the finished garden.”

Rob Harbourne, Sanctuary development manager, said: “Sanctuary not only provides high quality housing, but we are also dedicated to providing support for communities. We are pleased our partnership with Keepmoat is allowing us to transform this area.”
