Sheffield Wednesday: Almen Abdi WILL get us goals, say Barry Bannan
Big things were expected of Abdi after Wednesday splashed out £4m to sign the attacking midfielder from Premier League side Watford last month.
But the 29-year-old has struggled to adapt to his new surroundings and been taken off at half-time in each of the Owls’ last two matches.

Hide AdBoss Carlos Carvalhal cited tiredness as a reason why he brought Abdi off at Burton Albion.

Despite being regarded as a central midfielder, Abdi has mainly been playing out wide on the flanks since moving to Hillsborough.

Hide AdBannan told The Star: “I saw a lot of Almen in the Premier League.
“He was really good for Watford and I was surprised that they let him go. He’s a good footballer.
“It takes time to settle, but Almen is a great lad and will get us goals as well from what I have seen of him.

Wednesday go to Brentford on Saturday chasing their first win since the opening weekend of the campaign.
Bannan said: “We are quietly confident (we can do well). We have improved the squad from last season with the new signings and are going to be stronger.
“But the league has got a lot harder as well with the teams who have gone down and ones who are trying to get in the Premier League and up the league.”
