Sheffield Wednesday delivering promise to entertain, says Carlos Carvalhal

Carlos Carvalhal believes Sheffield Wednesday are delivering on his promise of attacking football made when he first arrived at Hillsborough.

The Portuguese pledged to turn Wednesday into the great entertainers when he was appointed last June, backed by chairman Dejphon Chansiri.

Wednesday are the Championship’s third top scorers and only Burnley can claim to have scored three or more goals in a game on as many occasions as the Owls have this season.

And Carvalhal believes the commitment to attacking football has helped Wednesday to maintain a consistent push for a top six finish for much of the season.

“We are the second or third best attack in the division and I am very happy about this because we promised our fans good attacking football and we are delivering it,” Carvalhal said.

“I believe we can play better week by week.

“We are doing well in all the games.

“Sometimes we lose a little bit of confidence.

“When we win, we have more confidence. Absolutely sure.

“But we have confidence in how we win, lose or draw.

“Even if we lose but play with our style, we have our confidence.

“That’s why we are a very consistent side.”
