Sheffield Wednesday: Forget Euro 2016 - Daniel Pudil's focus is all on Owls
Daniel Pudil insists he has given no thought to a potential place at Euro 2016 '“ because there are too many important games left to play for Sheffield Wednesday.
The left back came off the bench for the final 11 minutes for Czech Republic’s defeat to Scotland last week.
While earning another cap boosted his chances of a place in the Czech squad for the summer’s tournament in France, the 30-year-old insists that does not preoccupy his thoughts.
“Selection for the Euros is not in my thoughts at all,” he told the Czech media. “Before May there is still a lot of matches.
“If I think about it, something can happen. I have missed two Euros before.
“We will see how it is in May. If it does not happen again, it is not the end of the world.
“Now I have other priorities like my wife and children.
“If I am not selected and we progress to the quarter-finals of the European Championships, then I am still happy.”
Pudil has another chance for game time with his country tomorrow when the Czechs visit Sweden.
He told journalists in his homeland he is expected a tough end to the season with Wednesday.
Pudil said: “We’ve had some tough matches so we dropped points but we won two games and we still hold the top six place.
“It will be a great fight.”
