Lewis Price, Michael Turner, Joe Bennett and Jose Semedo may get run-outs in the Under-21s clash, which will take place, weather permitting, at Middlewood Road. The Professional Development League 2 North fixture gets underway at 11am and entry is free of charge.

Goalkeeper Price, defenders Turner and Bennett and midfielder Semedo were not involved in the Owls’ 3-0 success over lowly Charlton Athletic last time out.

In the PDL2, teams can play a maximum of three overage outfield players and an overage goalkeeper.

Head coach Carlos Carvalhal has stated his desire to give game time to players on the periphery of his first-team squad during the two-week international break.

He said: “The players who have played a lot will recover now. That is key and we will try to give tempo, timing and training to the players who haven’t been playing.”

Today’s encounter promises to be a stern test of Wednesday’s credentials as Huddersfield currently sit in second position, trailing leaders Sheffield United by two points but with three games in hand. By contrast, the Owls lie 10th in the standings, having accrued 24 points from 21 outings.
