The 25-year-old spent last season on loan with Wednesday, making 19 appearances with his game time limited due to a knee injury.

His return significantly eases the issue of a lack of depth in defence in the Owls squad and, given his first hand experience of the team and methods of head coach Carlos Carvalhal, he is likely to go straight into the matchday squad for tomorrow's clash with Leeds United.

“I’m really happy to be back and this is better than a loan move for me," the Frenchman told the Owls' official website.

“I know the staff, the club and all the people working here. This helps a lot because I know exactly where I’m coming into and hopefully I can help the team.

“We went from strength to strength last season, it was really good for the fans and a great experience for all the players.

“In part it was difficult for me because I had a small problem with my knee but now I feel 100 per cent.

“I am much more accustomed to the Championship, especially the physical side of the game. I know when the referee will blow his whistle and when he won’t.

“It is different in Europe and where I have been playing my football. I understand the intensity and I know exactly what to expect. There will be no problem for me.”
