Society on the hunt for worthy causes across county

A Sheffield organisation is looking for worthy causes to donate cash aid of up to £1,000 a time.

Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society launched its new £5,000 Community Fund in January and wants to help South Yorkshire community groups which are working to relieve hardship, poverty or suffering.

Since the launch of the fund the society has donated over £2,300 to successful applicants including Time4YOUth, which offers help to children and young people in the Barnsley area.

Money was given to Barnsley Beacon which supports the families of drug and alcohol users in the Barnsley borough.

And Foxhill Forum received a donation for their Work-Shop job club who offer services to the residents of Foxhill and Parson Cross.
