Sheffield’s two options for a potential new HS2 railway station are to be assessed by specialist consultants.

Sheffield City Region Combined Authority, which represents local councils in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, is in the process of commissioning consultants to run the study.

The report will look into the connectivity requirements of both the prospective new station at Meadowhall – the Government’s favoured location – and the alternative proposal for it to be based at the former Victoria Station in Sheffield city centre.
