The film will be showcased Thursday, November 21 at The Showroom’s Best of Sheffield Adventure Film Festival 2013.

ShAFF director Matt Heason said: “I’m delighted North of the Sun has scooped one of adventure sport film-makers’ most prestigious prizes.”

Wideboyz by British filmmakers Hot Aches also scooped two prizes in the Best Climbing Film category at ShAFF, and is being shown again in February next year at The Showroom.

This year marks the first best of ShAFF event at The Showroom.

Film-makers specialising in adventure and extreme sports have two weeks to submit their films for next year’s Sheffield Adventure Film Festival.

Matt, aged 40, originally from Woodseats but now living in Grindleford, said: “We’re proud of ShAFF’s proven track record of encouraging independent film-makers and picking inspiring films that go on to be real crowd-pleasers.”

Matt and the ShAFF crew are also on the lookout for talented local musicians and bands to submit potential tracks for the festival’s 2014 trailer.

Lissa Cook, ShAFF spokeswoman, said: “Our last two trailers featured soundtracks by Sheffield bands Hey Sholay and Screaming Maldini.

“We’re now on the lookout for another local Sheffield or Peak District band for our 2014 trailer for April’s festival.”
