A suspected arson attempt has been made at Ponds Forge underground car park in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to the underground car park at 3.20am today after a fire alarm went off.
The public car park is in the process of being refitted and a spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said carpet tiles and wood had been piled up next to two parking meters and set alight.
The fire was put out within 20 minutes and only caused minor smoke damage to a nearby wall.
CCTV of the car park is due to be checked by Ponds Forge management today.
