Max Fischer, founder of Fischer’s at Baslow Hall, is to host A Taste of Fischer’s at the Hallam View restaurant on Thursday March 30.

His five course menu will showcase a selection of his classic dishes cooked by students, with matched wines.

Lecturer James Ellerby, event organiser, said: “The people of Sheffield will be able to sample a simplified version of Max’s cooking for a fraction of the cost.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students to work with a chef of Max’s calibre.”

Max added: “I hope working alongside me will inspire students, and give them the confidence to practice and learn these essential practical skills.”

Places cost £45. To book call 0114 2253871.

Alternative to ready meals

A new deli has been added to the popular Bradway coffee shop and bistro S17.

The shop was relaunched last year and will also now have extended opening hours at weekends.

Its new deli, called S17 Kitchen - Bake & Deli offers local cheeses, fresh bread and pastries, anti-pasti and salads plus hot food.

Owner and head chef Andy Forder said: “It will stock all the items you would expect to see and I will also be creating classic dishes such as freshly made lasagne and home-made pies to take home, perfect for when you fancy a night off from cooking.

“I want to offer people something different from supermarket ready meals or conventional takeaways.”

The BYO bistro will now be open every Friday and Saturday evening, with a monthly changing menu.
