Taxi driver robbed at knife point in Intake, Sheffield

A Sheffield taxi driver was forced out of his car at knife point by thieves who then stole his vehicle.

South Yorkshrie Police were called to reports that a vehicle had been stolen from Mansfield Drive, Intake, at about 4.10am this morning (Tuesday, March 29).

A spokesman said: “It is reported that two men threatened a taxi driver on Mansfield Drive, with what is believed to be a knife, forcing him out of the car. Items from the vehicle were stolen.

“The car, a Vauxhall Vectra, has since been recovered.

“The taxi driver is not believed to have been injured.”

The driver works for Express Taxis, based in Attercliffe Common.

A Sheffield Forum user who appears to work for the firm posted about the theft. They said the thieves were both white men, aged about 30. The user said: “It’s just not on. Not only is it unsafe for our taxi drivers out there, it’s also unfair on the residents that live there as soon no-one will want to pick up on that estate anymore.”

Anyone with information on the theft should call police on 101 quoting incident 138 of March 29.
