Teenage girl robs pensioner on Sheffield street

Police are hunting for a teenage girl after an elderly woman was robbed on a Sheffield street yesterday.

The 83-year-old woman had just gotten off a bus in Ecclesall Road at around 4.55pm, near to the Berkley Precinct, when she was approached by a teenage girl.

The suspect is reported to have approached her and grabbed her bag, causing the victim to fall to the ground and hit her head.

The suspect is described as being Asian, aged between 15 and 18, around 5ft tall, with long, straight, black hair, which was pulled away from her face.

The bag taken from the woman has not yet been found. It is black faux leather, measures around 10 inches by 12 inches, and has a long black, thin strap.

Inside the bag were three purses: one was small with brown and beige teddies on it; another is rectangle, white, with blue and brown stripes on it; while the third purse was small and black, with multiple zips. A quantity of cash was inside the purses.

Thankfully, the victim didn’t suffer any serious injuries, but has a sore head and shoulder.

Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area, and are reviewing CCTV.
