Tickets for Music in the Gardens

TICKETS went on sale this week for a series of concerts in the Botanical Gardens this summer.

Now in it’s eighth year, Music in the Gardens is organised by Sheffield and District Rotary Clubs.

It starts on Wednesday, July 3 with Bruce Foxton’s From the Jam, followed on the Thursday by the 11-piece band Bellowhead, who won BBC Radio 2’s Best Live

Act five times.

Friday night will see the return of Omar Puente, the Cuban-born, Yorkshire-based jazz violinist who played to a sell-out audience in 2010.

The Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra are back on the Saturday with a Last Night of the Gardens concert, complete with lots of flag waving and a firework finale.

Concert organiser Carly Whitfield said: “We’ve made an effort to offer something for everyone, with a real emphasis on maintaining a fantastic community event in aid of some brilliant local charities.”

Charities to benefit will include Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Safe@Last, Sheffield Young Carers, Barnado’s Young Carers (Rotherham), Breast Cancer Care, Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind, The Archer Project and the local Soup Wagon.
