Police seek pedestrians seen close to scene of fatal crash

Police officers investigating a fatal collision between a cyclist and a skip wagon in Rotherham want to speak to two pedestrians seen close to the crash scene.

Cyclist Rodney Botterill, aged 68, of Haworth Crescent, Moorgate, Rotherham, died in the collision on Sheffield Road, Templeborough, at 8.50am on Thursday, October 2.

The collision occurred close to the junction with Fullerton Road.

Officers want to trace anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the green skip lorry or cyclist beforehand.

CCTV cameras picked up two pedestrians close to the scene that day.

The driver of the skip wagon, a 52-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed.

An inquest has been opened.
