TWO men accused of the murder of a Sheffield grandfather on his way to church on Christmas Eve have been remanded in custody.
Jonathan Leslie Bowling, aged 22, of Fox Hill Crescent, Fox Hill, and Ashley Michael Foster, 21, of Wesley Road, High Green, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court after their cases were committed by magistrates last week. They will appear again on April 12 for a plea and directions hearing.
The duo are accused of the murder of 68-year-old Alan Greaves, of Greengate Lane, High Green, pictured above, who was attacked as he walked to St Saviour’s Church on Mortomley Lane on Christmas Eve.
He suffered severe head injuries and died in hospital three days later.
Mr Greaves was a married father-of-four and a retired social worker.
