RIVAL footballers have come together to back an appeal to help thousands of South Yorkshire families affected by cancer.
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity launch their Extra Time campaign today to celebrate the February 29 leap year.
The campaign stems from the idea that each leap year we all benefit from an extra day – and thanks to Weston Park Hospital, more cancer patients are being afforded extra quality time with their loved ones.
Blades captain Chris Morgan, Owls skipper Rob Jones, Rotherham United’s Dale Tonge, Jamie Lowry of Chesterfield FC, Bobby Hassell of Barnsley and Kyle Bennett of Doncaster Rovers are backing the campaign, along with world-ranking ref Howard Webb and former referee Uriah Rennie.
The appeal urges people to support the charity by donating each month through their bank account.
Rachel Thorpe, director of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity said: “Weston Park aims to give cancer patients extra quality time with their loved ones through undertaking pioneering cancer research.”
