The band have paid a touching tribute to the former Bramall Lane chief who tragically committed suicide in 2011 in the lyrics to Wales' official Euro 2016 football anthem which is due to be released tomorrow.

The song, Together Stronger (C'mon Wales), honours the football ace who was in charge at Sheffield United for 18 games at the end of 2010 before becoming manager of Wales.

The lyrics read: "Let's not forget Gary Speed/He wore his heart upon his sleeve/And if he is looking down/Then our love is all around." The song also features mentions of the current Wales squad as well as other Welsh legends such as Ryan Giggs and Joe Jordan.

Prior to becoming Blades boss, Speed also played 40 games for United, scoring six goals in a four season career between 2007 and 2011.

He took up the reins after Kevin Blackwell was sacked just three games into the 2010-11 season, becoming manager in August 2010 but leaving in December of the same year after being scouted for the Wales job.

Tragically, he was found hanged at the garage of his luxury home in Cheshire in November 2011 at the age of 42.

The coroner at the inquest reached a narrative verdict and stated that cause of death was by "self suspension", but that there was insufficient evidence to determine whether it was intentional as he may have intended to make a "dramatic gesture" and then "nodded off to sleep."

The Welsh trio, known for hits such as A Design For Life and Motorcycle Emptiness, unveiled the song they hope will fire Chris Coleman’s team to footballing immortality in France for the first time this morning.

The video features an appearance by the Wales football squad at their training base as well as documenting the highs and lows of Welsh international football history.

Together Stronger (C’mon Wales) is available to buy from tomorrow.
