Carlos Carvalhal says he doesn't care what the 'moaners' say or publish on Twitter

Speaking ahead of the weekend clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Norwich City, Carvalhal once again rounded on critics of the Owls’ performances this season, stating that they don’t speak for the majority of supporters.

The Portuguese went on to suggest that the type of fans from the city who felt hardship during severe unemployment in the region during the 80s and 90s were not on Twitter and it is they who offer a more realistic representation of the club’s fanbase.

Carvalhal said: “It doesn’t effect me. The (negative) people on social media are not fans of Sheffield Wednesday.

“Sheffield is a city, is a place that felt a lot of injustice in the 80s. A lot of unemployment, a lot of heartache for a lot of people in the region.

“These kinds of people are supporters; I don’t think these kind of people, the genuine fans of Sheffield Wednesday, are on Twitter.

“We are doing our best for all fans, to the people who have Twitter and who don’t.

He added: “Usually, the people on social media is the people who make the most noise, they don’t go on Twitter to say positive things, it is usually people who like to say bad things.

“This doesn’t make opinion. This five per cent doesn’t make opinion. I want to talk to all of them.

“Sometimes I receive messages that say ‘don’t care about the, they call them, moaners?’

“I want to say to them, personally I don’t care. To my part I don’t care too much about that, my focus all the time is on the next game, this time against Norwich.”
