Detectives are confident of catching the killer of a Sheffield father-of-three - even though nobody has been charged more than a month after the murder.

Jarvin Blake, aged 22, described by his partner as a 'fantastic dad', was stabbed to death in the street in Burngreave nearly five weeks ago.

Four men, aged 24, 25, and two 26-year-olds, from Sheffield and Rotherham, have been arrested in connection with the murder but all have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Despite no charges being brought against any of the suspects, detective superintendent Una Jennings said officers are 'confident' of bringing Jarvin's killer to justice and the investigation is 'getting closer' to a breakthrough.

She said: "The public's response to our appeal has been fantastic.

"We have received lots of information flowing into the inquiry which is key to getting a successful outcome.

Last week Jarvin's fiancee Kelsey Dixon, mother to his son and two daughters aged five, three and seven months, made an emotional plea for members of the public to come forward with information.

Jarvin, of Gleadless, was stabbed to death at the junction of Catherine Street and Brackley Street on Thursday, March 8, at 3pm.

Police believe he was knifed after a car - believed to be a light blue Volvo - pulled up alongside him and he was chased by a gang of men who jumped out.

His friend he was with at the time was also injured but survived.

Jarvin was captured on a CCTV camera in a shop in Handsworth just hours before he was killed.
