Carvalhal was left furious after the Lancashired-based official turned down Fernando Forestieri’s 32nd minute penalty shout.

Forestieri appeared to be bundled over by Bees captain Harlee Dean but Bond was not interested and waved play on.

Moments later, John Egan opened the scoring and Dean compounded the Owls’ frustrations by doubling Brentford’s lead before half-time.

Wednesday piled on the pressure but Forestieri’s 10th goal of the season proved to be nothing more than a consolation for the Owls.

“The referee in the first half was a disaster,” said Carvalhal afterwards.

“It was a very poor performance (from Bond), he made everybody nervous, he made the fans nervous, he made my players nervous and he made me nervous.

“He didn’t see a clear penalty, he didn’t see a block on (Vincent) Sasso for their second goal and there were a lot of faults and little things that made everyone nervous.

“I checked the video and it is a clear foul on Fernando.”

Defeat saw Wednesday miss the opportunity to cement their play-off position. They remain sixth but failed to climb above Leeds United, who they face on Saturday, and Reading into fourth.
