VIDEO: Sheffield spiderwoman in incredible 120ft highlining stunt over city skyline
This was the incredible scene at Sheffield Hallam University this morning as record-breaking highliner, Sarah Rixham, made her way across a 60 metre wire hooked up between two university buildings.
Sheffield-born Sarah, who is the current world-record holder for the longest female highline, carried out the daredevil feat just after 7.30am this morning to open the 11th annual Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, which is part of The Outdoor City Weekender.
It took place over Surrey Lane, close to Sheffield rail station.
Having travelled the world highlining in some of the most awe-inspiring and hair-raising locations imaginable, 25-year old Sarah returned to her hometown this morning to join a weekend of celebrations to showcase the huge variety of outdoor adventures that Sheffield has to offer.
She said: "It’s a very special experience for me to finally get to highline in the city my slackline journey started."
The Star used Facebook Live to video live-stream this incredible event from two different angles as it happened, and you can watch it back here.
We will also be uploading a full video report later this morning, including incredible footage from a go-pro camera held by Sarah as she carried out the stunt.
