WATCH LIVE: Daredevils to take first ride on Sheffield's new 220ft high ride

Sheffield's newest attraction - The Star Flyer carousel - opens today and we'll be be streaming live video of the first ride.

The massive carousel is the largest in the UK and can seat 24 thrill-seekers at a time.

The Star Flyer is situated at the top of Fargate and at more than 200ft high it towers over the adjacent Sheffield Town Hall.

At 11am today (Friday March 18) the ride will open for business and The Star will be there to capture all the action.

During the three months the ride will be in operation, it will be open seven days a week between 10am and 11pm.

Star Flyer was first set up in Liverpool in 2010 and has since been an attraction in London and Manchester.

It is more than twice the size than a similar 100ft carousel ride that was set up in Leeds last winter.
