Well known popular Doncaster postmistress dies

A well-known Doncaster village postmistress has died.

Gladys Drake, who was in charge of Marr Post Office for many years, has died at the age of 79.

Mrs Drake, who was retired, lived in the village and was presented with a long service award in 1997 to mark 25 years behind the Post Office counter.

She died on May 25 and her funeral will take place on June 15 from 2pm at St Helen's Church, Marr.

Mrs Drake, the wife of the late Edgar, was described in an obituary as the "loving mum of Christine, Susan, Sharon, Peter and Julie as well as "dear mother in law, much loved grandma and great grandma."
