YOU can put your shirt on The Star when it comes to money-can’t-buy prizes – like today’s rare Masters Football tops signed by Owls and Blades legends!
We also have tickets to be won to celebrate the return of Selco Yorkshire Masters Football at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on Sunday, June 26.
But don’t get shirty if you miss the competition deadline - you’ve only got until next Friday, June 3, 2011, at 10am.
Rolling back the years to battle again will be all-time greats who played for Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, Leeds United and Huddersfield.
Rapid Solicitors, sponsoring the Yorkshire team shirts, have joined tournament sponsors Selco and The Star to offer today’s prizes.
We have two Owls and two Blades shirts from last year’s Masters Football event, signed by players of the respective teams.
Wednesday’s squad included Beni Carbone, Barry Richardson, Scott Oakes, Dean Smith, David Reeves, Jon McCarthy, Efan Ekoku and O’Neill Donaldson.
The Blades included David Holdsworth, Paul Beesley, Carl Bradshaw, Mark Todd, Paul Wood, Peter Duffield and Adrian Littlejohn.
This year’s line-ups have yet to be announced but confirmed are ex-Owls star Andy Booth, Noel Whelan, and Marcus Stewart, along with Blades players Dean Windass and Bruce Dyer.
Former tournaments have included Owls stars David Hirst, Paolo Di Canio and Kevin Pressman, Blades Brian Deane, Michael Tonge and Paddy Kenny.
Former top referees will be in charge – including South Yorkshire’s Steve Lodge and Uriah Rennie.
Barnsley are hoping to make it three wins in a row, while Doncaster and Huddersfield will be hoping to land their first ever Yorkshire Masters title.
Martin Ward, commercial manager at Rapid Solicitors, said: “I love Masters Football tournaments and so I jumped at the chance to be involved by sponsoring the Yorkshire teams’ shirts.
“It’s well-known on the Sky Sports calendar and a good fit for Rapid Solicitors, because we’re a well-known UK brand, too. I hope people appreciate that sponsorships like ours go a long way to enabling these events to happen and will choose to support us, should they need the services we provide.”
