CLIMB it, bike it, run it, do it. It can only mean one thing. Cliffhanger is back and we have tickets to be won to the outdoor sports and music festival in Sheffield.
For the first time, live music, a real ale tent and a camping village will be on offer in a special enclosure.
And this year the event has a new venue - Graves Park.
Cliffhanger is the UK’s biggest outdoor event for outdoor people, celebrating the best of sports and pursuits, operated for Sheffield Council by Heason Events, on Saturday and Sunday, July 7 and 8.
But there is a ‘festival within a festival’ this year, called Rat Race BASECAMP - run by adventure sports company Rat Race, with live bands playing as a pre-festival treat on the Friday and then Saturday night.
The line-up already includes The Ratells, The Northern Generals, Fossil Collective and Let’s Buy Happiness. Other acts will be announced at www.ratracebasecamp.com
It will also host sports such as biking and running, including a 5k race around the park on Saturday, July 7, while cyclists can ride 50km into the Peak District the next day.
Jim Mee, from Rat Race, said the entertainment will allow Cliffhanger festival-goers to ‘let their hair down’.
He said: “Graves Park is a beautiful spot to spend the evening and if you elect to camp under the stars you’ll be rewarded with broad views out into the Peaks.
“Sheffield is a city that prides itself on both its music and its adventure sports credentials.
“As well as producing some of the UK’s best bands, it has also produced our best climbers, plus a raft of stellar athletes.”
Festival co-organiser Matt Heason, of Heason Events, said: “It’s our aim at Cliffhanger to inspire people of all ages with a love of the outdoors and adventure sports by giving them a taste of a whole host of different sports and activities in one place.
“Cliffhanger’s renowned for being family-friendly event.”
