Boeing Sheffield will make hi-tech components for aircraft in a plant beside the Parkway next to the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at Waverley, on the Sheffield-Rotherham border. Mr Bashir said the deal was huge news for the city and a boost to its reputation for advanced manufacturing, coming just weeks after supercar company McLaren announced plans for a £50m factory in the area. The Conservative MEP for Yorkshire and The Humber added: “This is brilliant news for Sheffield, South Yorkshire and indeed, for Yorkshire. Coming hot on the heels of the McLaren announcement it’s hugely exciting to see big-name global operations seeking out this region.”
