Young artists get chance to show off skills

YOUNG artists will be given the chance to showcase their work and organise their own art exhibition in South Yorkshire.

Rotherham Youth Art Exhibition provides a space for young people aged 16 to 25 to show off their work to a panel of local artists.

The winning artist will win a year’s free membership to Rotherham Open Art Renaissance – known as ROAR.

The membership will provide them with advice and support from art professionals.

The exhibition, which the youngsters will have a hand in organising, is a joint venture by community charities Art in the Park and Open Minds Theatre Company.

Anyone wanting to submit art has until 7pm today.

Work should be delivered in person to The Old Market Gallery, Corporation Street, Rotherham, where the event is being held on Thursday, September 13, at 7pm.

The exhibition is being held in conjunction with ‘Somewhereto’, an Olympiad project aiming to support young people and the arts.
