Another boost for city environment

From: Coun Leigh Bramall

Cabinet member for Environment and Transport

I would like to thank all those organisations and individuals who contributed towards making this year’s Sheffield Environment Weeks such a resounding success.

Over 250 events attracted a tremendous range of people from all age ranges to participate in walks, clean ups, open days, exhibitions and talks to satisfy all interests over the six week period.

Thousands of people from all across the city were able to participate in the events this year, with probably the widest range of activities on offer since the Environment Weeks started 27 years ago.

My sincere thanks also goes to the working group who co-ordinated the programme of events and all the sponsors – some of which have supported the events since the very first year!

I realise that many of the organisations involved are committed to improving the environment throughout the year and this is something that we applaud and will do what we can do to support them.

I am hoping we can continue working with many of these enthusiasts to ensure Sheffield is a sustainable city for our children and future generations.
