Times not much to shout about

I use train travel from Sheffield station to many cities in the UK as much as possible.

There are a number of reasons, which include being able to work while travelling, it’s more environmentally friendly, and journey times are usually more reliable and travel more enjoyable than by car.

However, I always smile at one of the major adverts proudly displayed in Sheffield station highlighting a journey time to London of 2 hours and 7 minutes.

When I first moved to Sheffield in the late 90s the train operating company at the time was Midland Mainline who existed between 1996 and 2007.

They too had a similar advert for the journey between Sheffield and London – with an advertised travel time of 1 hour 59 minutes!
