On behalf of residents adjacent to Damon’s Restaurant
AS residents, we were overjoyed by the announcement made during a recent planning application hearing by the Aldi property director, Mark Taylor, that the cut-price retailer will not be pursuing the contentious site adjacent to Damon’s restaurant in Beighton.
The site in question was the subject of two planning applications, each application was met with strong opposition by local residents and their elected representatives and, on both occasions, the applications were refused.
The local residents’ opinion that the site was not suitable for the proposed store has been vindicated. This would not have been achieved without the determination and dedication of local residents, local councillors Helen Mirfin-Boukouris, Ian Saunders and Chris Rosling Josephs, Member of Parliament Clive Betts and the many others who expressed their objections, either by letter or by signing petitions.
We would like to thank everyone mentioned above for their help and support during this time.
