GRANDMOTHER Margaret Eccles, aged 69, has turned to an energetic Latin-themed dance class to help recover from a hip replacement.
She has become a dedicated Zumba fitness fan after joining a GP referral scheme to improve her fitness at Concord Sports Centre. As well as recovering from surgery, she was overweight and suffering from hypertension, osteoarthritis and an underactive thyroid.
Margaret, from Wincobank, who was trained by Dave Birds, has lost two stones and taken to the rhythm of Zumba. “It has really boosted my confidence,” she said.
She is supporting a ‘Zumbathon’ in aid of the British Heart Foundation at Don Valley Stadium on Sunday, July 10.
