In the opening game of the season Sheffield University Bankers staged a remarkable comeback at Brooklands.
They recovered from four goals down to lead 5-4 only to be denied maximum points by a last minute equaliser.
There was never any danger of a repeat in the return at Goodwin as Bankers blasted their way to a 7-2 victory. They swept into a three goal lead courtesy of goals from Joe Battman - his first of the season - Booth and the best of the game by Evans.
The visitors pulled one back just before the break but normal service was resumed in the second half as Justin Knapp bagged a double, Battman added another to his tally and Jed Mills was also on target.
David Dykes was named Man of the Match.
Unfortunately Bankers went down 2-0 at joint leaders Wakefield 24 hours later. They travel to Oxton on Saturday.
The second team found runaway leaders Gateshead too hot to handle and were beaten 6-2. Harrogate are the visitors to Goodwin on Saturday (1.30pm).
A weakened Ladies first team slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Leeds University. They look to get back on course in their back-to-back promotion bid when they host Harrogate on Saturday (12.15pm).
The Men’s thirds, fourths, sevenths and eighth teams all lost but the fifth and sixth teams won 2-1 and 3-2 respectively.
