Basketball: Atiba prepared for Lions roar as Sharks return to action after break

The Sharks are ready for a crucial match tomorrow night in their battle for the BBL Championship title, says coach Atiba Lyons.

Sheffield have had nearly a fortnight’s break since their last game against Reading Rockets in the BBL Trophy last 16. London Lions are the visitors to the EIS tomorrow (7.30pm) for their third trip to South Yorkshire.

Lyons thinks it will be a vital encounter. He said: “Especially with how it’s shaping up right in the top five right now. The head-to-heads are going to play a big part when it comes to the end of the season, so we’ve got to get as many as we can.”

The two teams have met three times this season in BBL Cup and Championship action, with the home team winning each time, and Lyons believes the Lions will be fired up for this one.

“London had a great couple of games but then slipped up against Durham, but I know them well and Vince will have them ready to go,” he explained.

“They had our number in their gym; they won’t forget that and will use it for motivation.”

Sharks Trophy quarter-final match at Plymouth Raiders has been set for Wednesday, February 12 in Devon.

Sharks have only one home match next month and they have to wait until February 25 for that, when title rivals Newcastle Eagles arrive.
